Modern Art
Executive Sumary About Modern Art By Shelley Esaak, About.com
These are a few of the sculptures I have available. I am currently rebuilding this page, and should have additional pieces posted soon.
We are contemporary to modern times. As you have doubtless guessed, the single most important thing anyone needs to know about Modern Art is that it’s different from Contemporary Art.
Modern Art: Art from the Impressionists (say, around 1880) up until the 1960’s or 70’s.
Here at About Art History, Modern Art starts as the Impressionists were winding down. Depending on which survey course a person takes, Modern Art is said to have begun with:
The “-isms” of the 1880’s (Tonal-, Symbol-, Post-Impression- and Neo-Impression-)
Regardless of chosen starting date, the crucial factor is that Modern Art means: “The point at which artists (1) felt free to trust their inner visions, (2) express those visions in their work, (3) use Real Life (social issues and images from modern life) as a source of subject matter and (4) experiment and innovate as often as possible.”
Art is kind of messy that way.
Outline of Art History – Modern Art
After Impressionism proved it only took a handful of artists to band together and create a lasting impact, Art got very busy proving this concept again and again.
Modern Art, William Branchart
All my paintings are produced in oil paint. My painting process involves building rich layers of pigment, creating a history of esthetic exploration until an image starts to emerge from the chaos and directs me to settle on a final form. I never approach a painting with a preconceived idea or direction as to where the piece should go. Prices and availability upon request.

Monoprints
I have an extensive body of prints available from large scale woodcuts (which are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Wakayama Japan) to etchings to experimental pieces. The spontaneous painterly quality achievable is seductively enticing. Some colored prints are available, and a few are depicted here.
